"Trout Springs Winery"
Here is a painting I did "en plein air" yesterday. The winery is near Greenleaf, Wisconsin and Water's Edge Artists gathered there to paint in support of the Wisconsin Ledge American Viticulture Area Celebration. For more information go to the Water's Edge Artists web site or to www.escarpmentnetwork.org.
My thanks to Steve De Baker, the owner of the winery who purchsed my painting while I was still working on it.

"View from Nest Egg Marine"
On 8/2/13 Water's Edge Artist's held a paint-out in and around Stephenson Island, Marinette, Wisconsin. The owners of Nest Egg Marine kindly allowed the artists access to their marina. Marinette Marine ship building operations in the background caught my attention. The painting is actually a little better as to lighting than my photography reveals here.

"Mansion Ruins"
"Mansion Ruins"
Here is another plein air painting done at the Water's Edge Artist's June 2013 paint-out. It is the portion of the mansion ruins facing the Red River.
Thanks to the De Casters for allowing us to paint at this magnificant site. Thanks also to the many local folks who came by to watch the artists paint and who provided so much information about the fantastic history of this place.
I owe particular thanks to Lois Schulte Brewster for historical information and for the commission to paint the nearby family property.
If interested you can find some of the history of the ruins on the internet-just Google Alexian Brothers Novitiate.
